Advanced Modular Receiver
Broadcasters need to deploy receivers for many different tasks in many different operational circumstances. Ericsson's RX82xx family of receivers offers ultimate operational flexibility by providing capability for decoding of all video formats and total connectivity for all transmission mediums via a comprehensive choice of options.
RX8200 Advanced Modular Receiver Each individual RX8200 unit can be easily configured and tailored to the user's precise needs. This means an optimal balance of functionality and cost can be achieved, resulting in a unit with all the required features without the additional expense of superfluous connectivity of functionality. RX8200 Business Benefits Total Connectivity The RX8200 Advanced Modular Receiver offers the user total connectivity through the capability to provide DVB-S2 satellite, IP and ASI transport stream inputs, all within a single unit. With this flexibility the user is confident that their initial receiver investment is capable of adapting to a fast-changing industry. Multi-format Decoding With more broadcasters joining the rapid transition from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 AVC, the RX8200 has been specifically designed to grow in capability to match those needs. As a true multi-format decoder, the RX8200 can offer MPEG-4 AVC 4:2:0 High Definition decoding allowing broadcasters to reap the benefits from the 50% bit-rate savings that the format offers; and with more and more contribution feeds also making a similar move from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 AVC in the 4:2:2 world the RX8200 also meets those needs. Highest Quality The RX8200 Advanced Modular Receiver has the capability to provide the ultimate feature-set of MPEG-4 HD, 4:2:2 10-bit 1080p50/60 allowing broadcasters to achieve the highest possible video quality. The RX8200 also has the abiilty to enable compatibility for all broadcasters by deriving and outputting high quality 1080i, 720p or SD video from this reference format. Lowest Latency Broadcasters are increasingly demanding lowest latency for contribution and news applications. Ericsson offers the complete low latency suite of tools for the user - whether that be high quality JPEG 2000 decoding for contribution over fiber applications or low latency MPEG-4 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 decoding for satellite applications. Why Ericsson The Ericsson RX8200 Advanced Modular Receiver heads its class as an IRD offering the perfect balance of industry leading capability, flexibility and affordability. RX8252 Program Transcoder Ericsson's RX8252 Program Transcoder allows content originators to benefit from the bandwidth and operational cost advantages of DVB-S2 and MPEG-4 AVC, while still maintaining a cost-effective interface into legacy MPEG-2 systems. The Ericsson RX8252 Program Transcoder offers high density MPEG-4 AVC to MPEG-2 transcoding, in conjunction with superior video quality, allowing the programmer to distribute using MPEG-4 AVC compression while maintaining compatibility with down-stream legacy MPEG-2 equipment. RX8252 Business Benefits Save Cost and Bandwidth The RX8252 Program Transcoder allows content to be distributed over a satellite network using the highly efficient DVB-S2 modulation scheme. When combined with use of the latest MPEG-4 AVC compression technology the resulting efficiency gains dramatically improve the operating costs and channel density per transponder. Highest Channel Density The RX8252 Program Transcoder provides for an efficient multi-channel solution. By offering up to 6 transcodes within a compact 1RU chassis, the RX8252 has the capability to process a full transponder of high definition content within one unit leading to valuable reductions in system cost, complexity and equipment rack space. Managing your Network Infrastructure As video networks grow, it becomes increasingly important to maintain and manage the network in a cost-efficient and resource efficient manner. To assist with this the RX8252 is integrated with the Ericsson Director receiver management system. Director provides capability to control and manage a population of receivers from a central location, vastly reducing network management complexity and costs.
